Tool is primarily made for bending branches and manipulating them in place with the duration of time. However, the tool could be used any place where pressure, bending, or anchoring is required. Can also be used to anchor bonsai paraphernalia in place or anchor certain positioning of the tree or other items.
Penjing Iron Works provides this branch bender as a versatile tool, used for many different trees and branch types, or anything else that requires same. Works well with small movements and pressure to the wood with time and in increments. Patience is the key to a successful branch movement technique. Using the hooks to anchor the bender onto the branch, the hobbyist then adjusts the pushing mechanism slowly while keeping in mind that not much effort is needed or required as timely increments would be advantageous. The rule of thumb is to press less than you think, you can always press more at a later time when branch assimilates into the position (like an orthodontist does with braces). In time, the branch bends into a semi-permanent or even permanent position, depending of length of time and type of wood.
This tool requires minimal care, just make sure to monitor protective coating and covering as weathering could eventually take its toll. Best way to prevent weathering and rust is to make sure you handle gently and avoid bangs, chips, or scratches. If this happens, please make use of an anti-rust sealant or urethane to cover the exposed area.
