Penjing Iron Works would like to dedicate this page to some modern bonsai grandmasters. These people not only mastered the use of bonsai tools, but the technique and art behind them. Listed below are individuals who mastered the art of bonsai. We apologize for not mentioning all talented artists here, there are hundreds. We made this recognition in light of the contributions to the bonsai community as well as their talent.
John Naka
The late John Naka, teacher to many other masters in the art, including some listed below is famous for the talent of teaching the art. His famous publications and desire to teach helped many advance in the industry.
Ben Oki
A bonsai artist so famous and sought for advice and techniques that many local bonsai clubs are constantly inviting him to train hobbyists. Ben Oki is so renowned for his perfect styles, that he has two famous bonsai awards named after him, the Ben Oki "Excellence in Advancing Bonsai" Award and the Ben Oki International Design Award.
Masahiko Kimura
Kimura of Japan has stunned by enthusiasts by creating and displaying some of the most eye-catching trees ever. The way he twists wood and cuts keep other mind boggled and guess as to how exactly does he do it. In his book, The Bonsai Art Of Kimura, maybe we could learn.
Mary Madison
Bonsai Master Mary Madison is most noted for her contributions to the industry. She has served on many committees, and chaired many organizations dedicated to bonsai. A very generous woman by offering her services and training. Among her many beautiful creations, one of her trees is displayed at the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum.
